1997 studio album by a band with strong influences of MARILLION, (early) GENESIS, JETHRO TULL & CAMEL, plus a vocalist reminiscent of Peter Gabriel!

Studio album originally issued on Cyclops Records in 1997, the band line-up for ‘Raising The Stonbes’ was: Cyrus Scott (vocals / bass), Stewart Bell (keyboards / percussion) and Andy Heatlie (guitar on track # 1).

CITIZEN CAIN is a British progressive rock with all of the above influences. Their music is always, fresh, exciting and often highly complex, with traces of tongue-in-check humour. They produce the kind of Prog the listener can get fully absorbed in – good quality, often lengthy compositions with instrumental chops where keyboard and flute solos come and go, generating high levels of excitement.

Although founding member Cyrus (bass / vocals) is Scottish, CITIZEN CAIN was originally formed in London in 1982, with Gordon Feenie (drums / flute) and shortly after Tim Taylor (guitar).
Even though many critics rated them very highly, the band split in 1988 and Cyrus returned home to Scotland. Two years later Cyrus met with old guitarist friend Frank Kennedy, whom with friends Stewart Bell (drums / keyboards) and Dave Elam (bass) a few songs were written.
After a few months Stewart went on to just keyboards and Chris Colvin joined the band on drums, and with Cyrus concentrating of just vocals and flute, CITIZEN CAIN MKII was complete.

In 1991 the first demo was recorded and it received excellent reviews. The following year their debut album: ‘Serpents In Camouflage’ was recorded, but even though Dutch label SI Music had agreed to release it, the band was not happy with the result and it was shelved!
The CAIN line-up then changed over the next few years, with guitarist Alistair MacGregor and drummer Nick Arkles joining the band, then finally recruiting Andy Gilmour on bass, and that line-up of CITIZEN CAIN re-recorded ‘Somewhere But Yesterday’ and it was released through Si Music in October 1994.

In 1996 SI Music went bankrupt, and their albums were then released on the UK Cyclops label (now also no longer in existence) except for ‘Ghost Dance’ which was released in 1996 on Italian Prog specialist label: Mellow Records, and ‘Playing Dead’ which was issued in 2002 on indie label Pig In A Poke.

Now in 2013, following the band’s hugely successful 2012 release: ‘Skies Darken’ (their first album in ten years) by the current CITIZEN CAIN line-up of: Stewart Bell (keyboards / drums), Cyrus (bass / lead vocals) and Phil Allen (guitars / backing vocals), we can now announce the re-release of the band’s entire back-catalogue which is now is under one roof in the UK at F2 Festival Records, and they have all been fully Remastered!
Having been deleted and unavailable for a very long time, the five titles have all been brought back to life from the original DAT recordings by Mike Varty at Gargoyle Studios.
The artwork is based on the original releases, and now includes full lyrics.
